pie charts

How do I consistently print smooth 3D effect pie charts in word? I used the
word chart function to create pie charts and chose the sub chart type that
has a 3D effect. Some of the charts print with a "smoothed" effect, where
the curved circle appears continuous and even, but others appear "jagged".
They were all created the same way. I checked the formatting, all have
proporortions constrained to original size and have not even been scaled and
are all behind text. What have I missed or how do I sidestep this to
guarantee they all print smooth? (Note, I already tried several different
printers and several different print drivers - including a post script
driver.) I will need both a hardcopy print and to print a PDF to send to a
professional printer. (the PDF print currently looks jagged on some charts as
well).
