You folks are so extremely helpful here, I'm pleading for a nod.
I posted this here last week and haven't had a response. I'm wondering
if it never showed up on some servers, so I'm reposting in the hope that
my question will get something from someone. The problem is a real PITA.
I didn't have this problem in Entourage 2001 on my old iMac - the
options worked as I had set them. I'm new to OSX.

Entourage 11.2.1 (051004), Mac OS 10.4.2, iBook.

What in heck am I doing wrong? When a message comes in with an
attachment, the attachment doesn't download. I get a message at the top
of the message window that says something about it being a partial
download and I'm given an option to get message from server and when I
select that I get another message saying the entire message will
download next time I connect. So I close the window, re-open it, hit
Send & Receive, and it all comes down.

I'm puzzled by all of this because in my Tools --> Account settings, I
have checked the box to partially download messages over 200kb in size.
It is happening regardless of the size of the attached file (calculated
as part of the size of the message).

What the heck am I doing wrong? What setting don't I have set correctly?

Thanks,
Barb

Sorry, never saw your message last week.

If you have checked the box to partially download, that is what happens and
what you are seeing. If the entire messages (envelope, headers, body, HTML
code (where applicable) and encoded attachment) exceeds the limit you have
set, then only the headers will be downloaded and you get the behaviour you
are seeing - that's working as designed.

In order to avoid seeing this, you need to uncheck that box - be aware there
is an override setting in the receive mail schedules (including "send &
Receive all") which is accessed by clicking on the "click here for account
options" button next to the account name in the schedule action part of the
window.

Understood.

a HA!!! THAT's the setting I was missing. Viola!! I've increased
those values and will have an opportunity to test it later, I think.
Lunch and drinks on me, Kiddo!
Thanks.

Houston, we've got liftoff!!
Here, I've got a nice Slovakian riesling that's quite pleasant. Let me
pour.
I've tested the settings and they're working as they should. I'm so
glad I decided to re-post.
