Pipe timeline graphic

I saw a fantastic graphic that I'd like to reproduce. It had a piped,
tubular effect, horizontal. It was used for a timeline.

Sections of the tube were separated by a curved line, like an open
parentheses (. Text could be entered in each section and each section could
be filled with color.

I want to use this as a timeline

What version of PowerPoint are you using?

PowerPoint 2007 offers 3D shape effects that can produce a tubular, or
pipeline graphic.

If your version is pre-2007, try using the AutoShape "Can". Draw it
thin vertically, then rotate it horizontally. Copy as many of them as
you need sections. Stretch each out as needed and then use the yellow
diamond to reset the curvature. Line them up and add text inside or
with separate text boxes overlaid. Color them solid or use the
gradient fill for a more 3d look. An easier version is to use
rectangles the same as above with the gradient fill. It appears as
"pipes" but without the curvature lines, which can be a distraction
anyway. I've used these in many professional prezzies with success.
