Pivot Chart fields disappear

I am unable to create or view a PivotChart. When I try to
create a pivot chart, as soon as I add the first field to
it, the chart expands and deletes/hides the drop in
fields. Nothing I do can bring those fields back or make
the chart work.

Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and
if so what was the solution.

I hesitate to uninstall/reinstall Office before knowing
that will work because in order to do it, I will have to
fill out a work request and that could take 1-2 days.
