Hi,
Is it at all possible to make XY type plots from Pivot
table data?

Yes. At least two come to mind. However, they do require the absence
of group (sub)totals in the PT.

(1) Create an empty chart by clicking in an empty region of the
worksheet. Then, select the PT data, and either copy + select chart
and Edit | Paste Special... or just drag the range on to the chart. In
the resulting dialog box, specify appropriate settings (probably data
in columns, first column contains x values).

(2) Create defined names that map on to the appropriate range within
the PT. This would include the option to make them dynamic in that the
named ranges would always match the PT after refreshing. Then, use the
names in the chart. For examples that you will have to adapt to your

Keep in mind that these charts are not Pivot Charts. They do not have
all the pivot functionality of a pivot chart, but then, they do not
sacrifice all the charting functionality that is lacking in pivot charts.
