Not a very good subject line
First thanks for all of the info that I have taken from this group. I still
cannot get over what a person can learn by lurking.
I have a list of employees with recurring training that comes due at certain
intervals annual, 15 months, 2 years, and 3 years. With a lot of help from
this group I have become a big believer and user of Pivot tables (thanks Ken
, Debra and countless others). I have my list that has the name, grade, due
date, the scheduling office (14 different offices) etc... Unfortunately 20
to 30% of the employees do not attend the training as scheduled creating an
overdue situation. I create the first pivot table with the course number in
rows and the due date (grouped by Year and Month) in the columns. When I
pull the number of students that are due I will select the total for the
month that I am scheduling (double click and create another sheet) and I
must also do this for the overdue group as well. I copy paste and make a
single sheet with both those coming due and those that are overdue. I make
the second pivot table and have the scheduling offices in the columns and
the courses in the rows. There may be 200 employees for one course and they
will be scattered across all of the scheduling offices. I average
scheduling about 300 classes and 3000 students per month.
Now this is where I need help. I create the schedule for the instructors
with the number of classes for the number of students the above would be 20
classes of 10. The lead instructor will add the date, time, location and
the instructors name and send it back to me. I then have to fill in the
business offices manually, let's say one of the business offices has 15
employees that will require the training, I will add 1 student to 5 of the
classes and 2 students to 5 of the classes (15 Total and 185 remaining).
Some of the scheduling offices may have all of the students for a particular
course and that means that some will have -0- students as well, the number
of scheduling offices does stay constant each month. I need a way to
populate each of the classes with the number (no names) that will be going
from each scheduling offices.
If you are confused I don't blame you but I will attempt to explain if you
have questions.
Thanks lomax
