pivot table data

Hi. I have 2 pivot tables using the same source data (a datasheet within the
workbook). For one of the pivot tables, I want to show the data by month.
For the second pivot table, i want to show the data by quarters. So, for the
second pivot table, i group the month fields. However, this grouping somehow
affects the first pivot table and this table now shows quarters instead of
the individual months that i want. How can group the fields of one pivot
table without affecting the other pivot table?

Thanks!

Hi KrispyData!

Check out:-

http://www.pierrefondes.com/

- at the top of the home page (item number 22).

It is a simple example based upon what you have said (in EXCEL 2007) and
seems to give you what you want. Let me know if it doesn't.

Hi,

I also had this problem. Apparently it is the way Excel caches the dataset (http://books.google.co.nz/books?id=...ping affects other pivot tables excel&f=false)

Instead of going through the process of that link though, I simply changed the number of rows that my separate pivot tables were looking at in the dataset... it seems to have a separate cache for each in that case. i.e for one I had including up to row 1000 and the other 1001. Seemed to work (empty row which can be excluded in a pivot table filter)
