pivot table loses filter setting on requery

In Access 2002 I have an OWC 10 based pivot table subform (OfficeXP)
where the source query refers to a combobox in the parent form for a
global parameter.
Whenever I change the value in that combo, I call a requery on the pivot
table to force it to use the data spec'd by that combo. It works fine in
most cases. It seems to reveal another bug in pivot tables tho; if I
first filter down to a subset of the column axis values, and then change
the parent form filtering combo and it's requery, the result set is
empty. If I look in the column axis filter settings, I see none are
selected; the subset I'd filtered by has been cleared. If I have "all"
selected in the column axis filter, everthing works fine. The param
combo and the column filter are not dealing with the same field.

Has anyone else seen this or have a workaround? The bug seems to be true
for both OWC 10 and OWC 10.1.

Is it possible that the page filtering is eliminating the orginal item filtered in the column? Leave the Pivot in a state where the "IncludedMembers" for the specific column field are not part of the new "record set" therefore the pivot is correctly displaying nothing
