Pivot table loss formatting after update

I have a Pivot table links to the data in a worksheet. I spent several hours
to format the pivot table and a chart using the data. The formatting of the
Pivot table and chart is loss after I update the data and REFRESH the pivot
table and chart. Then I have to start all over again from squaer one to
format the Pivot table and Chart. Is there a way to retain the formatting of
the Pivot table and the chart after refreshing it? Thanks

hi Paul
try the following to preserve your formats:
-On the pivot toolbar, choose 'PivotTable-Table Options'
-check 'Preserve formatting'

And if you are formatting values such as currency etc, then to format them in
the first place, right click on one of the numbers in the field you wish to
format, click on field settings, then Number and then set your format there.

Thanks for your reply...how about if I want to preserve the layout of the
Pivot table and Chart like the column width and height and the color/style
I assigned to the Chart etc...
