Pivot Table - Not Counting Blanks

Lance

Hi All,

I'm trying to do a Pivot Table with Excel 2002. Everything's workin
fine except it doesn't appear to be counting the blank cells, which i
important for the purpose of this spreadsheet - e.g. if I have
varying amount of people in the list and I want to see at any give
time how many people *havn't* taken a course, it is important to hav
the table count the blanks.

I've tried everything I can think of but can't get the pivot table t
count these blanks, even though I can get it to do so in othe
(unrelated) spreadsheets. It even pops up a "(blanks)" spot but neve
lists any information.

Anyone have any tips?

Thanks,

Lance Ferri

To count the blanks you could add a column (e.g. "RowCount") adjacent to
the list of courses, and enter a 1 in each row. Add the Course field to
the row area, and the RowCount field to the data area.

Or, use a space character, or the formula ="", in the course field,
instead of leaving the cells blank. The pivot table will be able to
count those.
