Pivot table problems

VP needs help

Company has used same pivot table for years to track sales. Most recent
report won't allow most of us to sort one of the tabs in the workbook. And
yes, it is the one worksheet that most of us use. Error message states that
there are too many row or column fields, remove one of the fields or hide
it...

Only a few people can sort this tab on the latest report, folks who have
Excel 2002 or 2003. Those of us with 97, and 2000 versions could sort prior
reports but now we all receive the same message. Report originator says
nothing has changed but obviously something has. I tried to recreate the
pivot table and unless I remove one of the row fields I can't create the PT
on my desktop (memory issue?), once created however, I am able to sort the
tab in question. I am guessing that the data file has somehow gotten
changed, or the Excel system was updated without the report generator knowing
it. She works off of a network server, while most of us use laptops in
remote locations. Our options as we see it are to have the PT recreated from
the data file on the server, and hope the tab will sort, or have everyone
upgrade to a newer version of Excel. Any suggestions for another fix would
be most welcome.
