pivot table question

Is it possible to create a pivot table putting names or string text in
the area where the data usually is or would VB needed for that?

For example

company quarter 1 quarter 2 quarter 3 quarter 4
McDonalds John Joe Sandra Peter
Pepsi Adam John Mary Chris


from this data:

company quarter name
McDonalds 1 John
McDonalds 2 Joe
Pepsi 1 Adam
etc.
