Pivot Table - Summing

S

Hi Folks:
I have (what must be a simple fix) a question on summing in PT's.
I have 4 columns: Customer, Model, Quantity, Dollars
When I set up the PT, I get in every case:

Cust Model Qty Dollars
ABC DEF 2 100
DEF 4 200
DEF 3 150
GHI 5 300
GHI 2 120

How the devil do I get it to add the units that are the same (so in this
case I get 9 pcs at $450, and GHI 7 pcs at $420) ???
I know I'm looking past something simple.

Many thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

When you set up the PivotTable, put Customer and Model in the Row area,
and Quantity and Dollars in the Data Area. The result should be:

Cust Model Data Total
ABC DEF Sum of Qty 9
Sum of Dollars 450
GHI Sum of Qty 7
Sum of Dollars 420

Then, drag the grey 'Data' button onto the cell which contains the word
'Total', and the data will be arranged horizontally.
