Pivot Table Wizard in Access fails w/ linked table

A linked table in Access 2000 (using ODBC driver for
AS/400 DB2 database). When using the pivot table wizard
or the chart wizard, Access does not appear to recognize
the numeric data. The chart wizard will not allow numeric
aggregate functions. The pivot table wizard returns zero.

Pivot tables created in Excel using data returned by MS
Query from the same data source do not have this problem.

Help anyone?
