Pivot table

Sorry for my very bad english but I am italian...

I have a problem with Excel 2004, latest patch. I have created a sheet,
selected data into sheet, and I have transformed this data into list with
command "Create list"

Then I have created a pivot table referred to this data; but when I insert a
row before total the pivot table can't update, it's also refer to a original
interval.

In windows this not succeed.

Hello -

Mac or PC makes no difference if I understand your issue. You canot
manually add rows or columns (or data) to a Pivot Table. They are
objects that summarize the data on which they are based, so the
structure is defined accordingly.

If the _source data_ changes, simply Refresh the Pivot Table and the
necessary rows/columns will be added (or removed) if required.

The refresh of pivot table can't include the new row insertend into source
data!

This is the problem...

Sorry to take so long getting back to you, but I've been trying to reproduce
the problem on both my Mac & a PC. Have not been able to do so, no matter
what I do.

It's very difficult to say without seeing what's going on, because the
message you describe does not pertain to inserting rows. My suggestion is to
check the data in the fields for the newly added records & make sure that
any referred to by the pivot table contain the correct type of data. In
other words, it the field is supposed to be a number, make sure it doesn't
contain text.

From another point of interpretation... Do you mean you want to insert a new
record (row) & not have it included when you refresh the pivot table?
