Pivot Tables causing file errors

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel

I have been working on a large database with some valuable information in it. Until now, I've been using lists, macros and graphs with no problems (as is expected). I recently added a Pivot Table, saved and quit, and have been unable to open the file ever since. It displays the message "Unable to open file".

I have seen on various forums that there have been issues with pivot tables in Excel for Mac, but have not discovered a way of retrieving my data or recovering the file. I am running Excel 2004 on OS X 10.4 and have installed the latest updates. Can anybody help?

Correction... The message displayed when trying to open the file is "Unable to read file."

Is there any chance you can share this file with us, or create a similar
file with the problem and share it with us? If you can't do either of those
