Pivot Tables/Charts & Drop-Down Arrows

I've been avoiding PivotTables for years. But, now I am trying to
teach myself Pivot Tables this weekend. I even bought a book. This
book shows Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts with drop-down arrows that
allow you to change the fields displayed.

I'm using Excel v. 11.3.5. I don't see these drop-down arrows? Are
they not available in Mac Excel? How do I get the Mac functionality of
these drop-down arrows?

The book, Aitken's Excel PivotTables and Charts, says there's a Chart
Wizard button on the PivotTable toolbar. I seem to be missing that as
well. Can I get the functionality of this on the Mac?

What you're seeing in the book is the PC version of XL which employs
Active-X controls - Active-X never having been implemented on the Mac. (And
for good reason in the minds of many :)) Therefore you won't have the arrows
in Mac Pivot Tables. However, you can get the same _result_ if you
Control+Click (right-click) the Field button in the PT & choose Field
Settings from the contextual menu. Use Shift-Click (consecutive) or
Command-Click (non-consecutive) to select the columns/rows you want to Hide.

The Pivot Chart is not an available option when you first generate the
table, nor is there a feature to add one from the PT Toolbar in Mac XL. To
generate a chart once the PT is created have the cell selector in the PT &
use the regular Chart Wizard. You may want to hide any totals rows/columns
first or edit the range references to exclude them. However, the chart will
not have the drop-down buttons as the XL version does, so you'll have to
modify in the PT itself. The Chart is dynamically linked to the Table so the
changes will update the chart.

Hopefully the next version of XL will provide a more robust Pivot
Table/Chart feature. We'll just have to wait & see:)

Thanks for such a quick response.
