I am using Excel 9.0 (2000) SP3, OWC 9.0 SP3, and
Internet Explorer 6.0.
I can create a pivot table based on data stored
in a spreadsheet and publish the pivot table as
a web page, store the web page on my desktop, and
view the web page including the pivot table.
When I base the pivot table on an external query
instead of a spreadsheet range, and publish and
store the web page on my desktop, I am unable to
view the pivot table. Publishing creates an html
file on my desktop, plus a folder that contains
two xml files, one containing the data and another
named "filelist". Clicking on the html file opens
it with IE. I see the following error message:
An error occurred while trying to use a
query published from Excel. Consult the
creator of the Web page. (0x80004005)
When I click OK to dispatch the message box, I
get a second message box containing exactly the
same message. Clicking OK a second time I see
the following error message:
The PivotTable list "PivotTable1" could not
connect to the data source "XLDataSource".
For information about the data source, consult
the creator of the file. (0x80004005)
How can I make this work so I can see the pivot
table in my browser? What will I need to do to
make this update when it is reloaded? What will
I need to do to move this to a server on our
intranet?
Many thanks,
Phil
