PivotTable sort on field *not* total

I have a PivotTable from a simple SQL query that I'm struggling to sort:
The row field is "Partner", the column field is "Date" and the table data is
"Sum of Quantity", i.e.

Partner 1 / Jun quantity / Jul quantity / Aug quantity / Sep quantity
Partner 2 / etc.

It's happy to sort by total Quantity of all Dates, but I can't persuade it
to order by descending Quantity for the most recent Date.

Any ideas?
