PivotTable time calculations?

I'm working in a database with time durations that are calculated based on
start and finish dates and times. Then I am analysing these calculations in a
PivotTable, but the Grand Totals for columns/rows don't make sense. The
Subtotals seem to be ok, but I don't trust them since these Grand Totals
aren't correct.

What should I be doing differently?

Right-click on the Time field heading, and choose Field Settings
Click the Number button
Select the Time category, and select the one of the time formats that shows
total hours, e.g. 37:30:55
