WE are receiveing the following message on very small
pivottables. Unfortunalty, we are in the middle of Budget
process. All pivottable that are built on this flat file
are now raising the following error. This Pivottable where
working fine for weeks. Now they all are failing..

I have tried all of these recommendations and every
pivottable now raises this error. After the error all
cells are null.
The error is..

"Microsoft Excel Cannot make this chage because there
are too many rows or column items. Drag at least one row
or column field off the Pivottable report, or to the page
position. Alternatively, right-click a field, and then
click hide or hide levels on the shortcut menu."

PLease help,

Thanks tom olsen

One issue that causes this error message is how you have your columns and
rows set up in the pivot table. You should be able to drag the column
heading down to allow more data. If you click and drag your pivot table
column heading beside the row heading the pivot table reorganizes your data.
Depending on how your spreadsheet is set up it should eliminate your
problem.

But Remember...always make a back-up of your work before doing any tasks for
which you are unsure of the outcome.

WShelton.

WShelton,

Thanks for your reply. I tried that first on a small
pivottable (limited columns and rows) no sucess.

Appreciate your reply,
