PivotTable Wizard Error

Error message is the following when I attempt to advance the wizard past the
select field screen.

"The class argument in the CreateObject function of the Visual Basic
procedure you're trying to run is invalid."

This happens when I create a new mdb file and create a local table in that
mdb.

I'm running A2K, on W2K, Sp4. The wizard was running successfully until
recently. I've subsequently reinstalled Office 2K SR-1, run the Detect and
Repair function in both Acces and Excel, and installed Office 2000 sp3. I'm
also running A97 to boot.

Any troubleshooting tips or workarounds would be appreciated.
