Placing Cursor and Selecting Text

I am unable to place the cursor and select text in the body of a document
using the mouse or touch pad. I can use either to choose a menu item in the
toolbar but that is about it. Both pieces of harware work in all other
applications, but not MS Word 2003. Any ideas?

Is the document protected for forms?

No, the documents are not protected for forms. At first, I thought the
default settings were somehow set for this but after checking, I discovered
this is not the case. This problem happens even in new documents. Once I
type text, I cannot move the cursor or select text with the mouse. I find it
odd that MS Word 2003 is the only application where this problem occurs.

Does this still happen if you start Word in Office Safe Mode (press and hold
Ctrl while the app loads)?

Hi Suzanne,

I figured it out finally. The normal.dot file was corrupt and one of
programmers was able to fix the problem. Thanks for your help.
