Placing endnotes somewhere else

Hello,

I have the following problem. I'm submitting a manuscript for
publication and want the endnotes to appear at a specific place in the
document rather than at the end of the document. The dirty solution
would be to send two documents, one with all text up to and including
the endnote and one with the text that follows, but that is not an
option, the publisher insists on a single document. I spent a while
trying to figure this one out but the deadline is approaching and I
have so more to do. I would really appreciate it if someone who knows
how to do this could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Hi Marc,

You have to set the endnotes to end of section. Then you tell Word to
suppress endnotes for all sections except the one you want the endnotes
after. Then you can add another section after that section. (Presumably
you already have section breaks between chapters, etc? You can add the
section for the biblio/appendix/whatever first, then...:)

To set endnotes to end of section, instead of end of document, go to Insert
| Footnote, Options, Endnote tab, set the "place at". Click OK, then click
Close to avoid inserting another note. If you accidentally click OK the
second time, hit apple-z to undo the note insertion but not the format
change.

To suppress endnotes, go to Format | Document, Layout tab. Probably easiest
to first check the suppress endnotes box for the whole document (look under
the preview window for the "apply to" setting), then with the cursor in the
section that you want the notes to follow, go back to Format | Document and
uncheck suppress endnotes with "apply to" set to "this section only."

Post back if something fails or doesn't make sense, and be sure to mention
version number!
