Hi,
I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else.
I'm new to Word 2007. How do I place a picture/object over another
picture/object? When I try, it just places the second picture in front of the
existing. I actually need to have it imposed on top of it. I'm sure the
answer's perfectly simple, but I'm not getting it. Thank you in advance for
any assistance.
I'm trying to understand what you see now, what you want to do, and
where the difference is. If I misunderstood, please reply and explain
in more detail.
If you did manage to place both pictures in the same space, but one is
blocking the view of the other, then the problem seems to be that the
one in front is not transparent. Pictures that have a white (or other
solid color) background can be changed as follows: Select the picture,
which causes the Picture Tools ribbon to display. On that ribbon,
click the Recolor button in the Adjust group and then click Set
Transparent Color from the menu. Click anywhere in the background part
of the picture.
When you say " it just places the second picture in front of the
existing", if you mean it's not in the same space as the first picture
but to its left or right, then you probably need to change the
picture's "text wrapping". Select the picture to get the Picture Tools
ribbon; click the Text Wrapping button in the Arrange group, and
choose In Front Of Text. Then drag the picture to the place you want
it, and if necessary change its transparent color as above.
Soemtimes it helps to insert a drawing canvas to contain the pictures.
On the Insert ribbon, click the Shapes button in the Illustrations
group, and select New Drawing Canvas from the bottom of the menu. Cut
each existing picture from the document and paste it into the canvas.
This is especially useful for allowing you to use the Group command to
combine different kinds of objects into one piece that moves together.
