Placing text ON a graphic

Maestro

I am still having trouble with placing text on a graphic!

The picture has been saved in the file manager on our web site. When using
it in my FrontPage creation, I make sure I link to it by right-clicking on
the picture. I have followed all the steps to place text on the graphic but,
when trying to view in an email or with Internet Explorer, the graphic is
there but the text is not.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

If you use FrontPage to place text on a graphic the image is changed to
a .gif, and needs to be saved. Have you saved the page with the amended
image, and saved the image as well? Are you linking to the new version?

Thanks for the response, Ron.

All the graphics I'm using are GIFs to begin with, not JPEGs or anything
else. From what I've read, FrontPage adds the text to the image...which it
seems to do. And that's why I can't understand how come the text isn't
visible when viewing the finished product using Internet Explorer.

If you have saved the page and the edited .gif, then the only thing I
can think of is the browser cache - have you cleared the Temporary
Internet Files?

In IE use Tools->Internet Options
Click the Settings button relating to Temporary files
Select "Every time I visit the webpage" This may slow down downloads by
half a second or so as the browser checks the server for the latest
file, but ensures you get the latest version rather than whatever is in
your cache. If the current setting is "automatic" or "Never" you may
never see updated pages or images unless you deliberately refresh the
browser.
Also delete the temporary internet files.

Sorry the above instructions are a bit vague - I have IE8 at the moment
and the dialogues are different to IE7 and IE6.

Hey, Ron! Well, I tried what you suggested, and it hasn't fixed my problem.
I just know that there is something I am not doing which I should be doing.
(Probably more a case of something I don't understand!)
