Plagued with LinkBar Problems

A

Maybe I expect too much from LinkBars.

For example, in one web, I have several pages that all relate to two
higher-level web pages, and within each group to each other. So, in each
case, I created the LinkBars my clicking Create New on the LinkBar
Properties dialogue and giving each page's LinkBar a unique name, then
adding links as needed for that page. That seemed to work ok for awhile.
However, now, when I publish pages with updated/altered LinkBars, the new
LinkBars in FP2002 on my PC do not wind up on the corresponding page on my
ISP's server. I have tried several different approaches to getting pages in
a given group where I've setup new LinkBars as described above, but still
the changed LinkBars won't publish. At the same time other LinkBars in the
web work fine; always did.

Should I just give up on LinkBars altogether and rely solely on HyperLinks/
Or would there seem to be a way to overcome my LinkBar problems?

I shall greatly appreciate your help on this.

How are you publishing the changes to the live/remote server? Give the actual steps used.

Hi, Thomas!

I change the LinkBar/s, then Save the page/s (usually with File>Save All,
then click File>Publish Web. When the publishing dialogue pops up, if
necessary, I click on Ok to login to my ISP, then click the Publish button.
By default it usually publishes only saved pages. Though sometimes I change
the setting to publish all pages, then click the Publish button. When
messages popup during publication, reporting that a page on the ISP will be
replaced by one of the pages I'm publishing, I click Ok or Yes; whatever is
required to get it to publish the changed page and replace the older copy on
my ISP's server. I think that about covers it.

Yes, Thomas, I am publishing to the live/remote server. That is, my ISP's
server, which is live 24-7/

I would make sure that you save each page as you make changes, then when finish, run Tools |
Recalculate Hyperlinks, then File Menu | Publish Site.

You shouldn't have to run Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks, but it doesn't hurt to do so when you
change the navigation

Hi, again, Thomas!

That got it to publish right. I really appreciate the heads-up on that.
Didn't know that feature existed. It would help if FP2002 had an option to
always display full menus. But if such an option exists, I haven't found it
in the obvious place (Tools>Options). If it always displayed full menus, I
probably would have discovered Recalculate Nav. a lot sooner. Oh, well...

I sincerely appreciate your help. Have a great evening!
