planned vs. actual

We have a timetracking requirement for project server deployment, meaning
that team members shall report their actuals through web interface.

Once people entered their actual that doesnt correspond to planned, server
re-calculating task values - task's start day, duration, % people are
assigned to the tals and so on.

Is it a way to separate Planned from Actual, to prevent changes to the plan
while alloving resorces to report their actuals?

Yes. Before you begin updating actuals into the project, be sure to
baseline the project (Tools - Tracking - Save Baseline). The baseline
values will capture the original planned state of the project.
Specifically, it will capture the Start, Finish, Duration, Work, and Cost
for each task and each assignment. As you update actuals into the plan, you
can apply the Tracking Gantt view to study differences between the original
plan and the current state of the plan. You can also apply the Work, Cost,
or Variance tables in the Gantt Chart or Tracking Gantt view to study the
project variance. Hope this helps.
