play movies from slide in powerpoint 2002

I am trying to have movies, with sound,run as soon as the slide is
selected. Tried "insert/Movies and Sounds/movie from file/ABC.mpg" then
answer "Yes" to start movie automatically when slide is selected, but
nothing happens when running the slide show
My *.AVI movies are rejected by powepoint.

still doesn't work. Also, always let us know what version of PowerPoint you are
using and where your movies came from.
