Playing music files in a presentation

In Powerpoint for PC you can select the time (minutes and seconds) for a song from which point you want the music file to start playing when imbedded in a presentation. I can't find that in Powerpoint for mac. They always start from the beginning, which is not what I want. Am I missing something?

Dunno about the Mac, but I'm missing something. How do you do this on the
PC? And in which version of PPT?

Hi Steve,
In PP 2003 or 2007 you can go into the Personalised Animation menu and where it shows the song in the dialog box there is an arrow pointing down with a drop down menu with an effects sub menu...in that you can specify: 1) to start from the beginning, 2) start from where the song last left off, or 3) from whatever time you want the song to begin playing. This is not to be confused with the delay feature that enables you to allow time to lapse before any music begins playing. This is an important feature to me that I use constantly since I imbed music in presentations I use for teaching MBA classes.
Thanks.
Timothy

Hmm. Not seeing any of this. Which dialog box, and how was the sound inserted?

Sorry for the off-topic diversion but this has me curious. Thanks for the extra info!

OK...I like a challenge too. I added a sound file using insert on a powerpoint slide...then when you do into personalized animation you see the list of actions in a dialog box on the right...on the sound file there is a drop down menu with the possibilities i described in my last post...and you can choose to start playing a song from any point within the song and not just at the beginning by entering a start time. This is a great feature and one I cannot live without in my new Mac world!

Ah, got it ... Thanks.

You choose Effect Options from the dropdown list. I'd already looked at that dialog box
with something else selected and saw nothing related to sound. You only get the sound
options when ... ta duh! ... you have a sound selected.

I'm slow but I usually get there eventually. Given a push. If the wind's with me.
