Mike H.
I recently installed XP and XP Office onto a 400MHz PII PC
that was running Win98.
I have set up 4 XP accounts, one for each family member.
Everything seems to be running fine, except for Outlook.
Two users, when they started up Outlook, were getting an
error along the lines of: "Microsoft Word 10.0, An error
occurred and this feature is no longer functioning
properly, please run setup and select repair." Repair
didn't repair the problem, so I Removed & Reinstalled XP
Office.
This got rid of the MS Word 10.0 error, but now we have a
new & different error.
Now, whenever anyone logs onto their account and starts up
Outlook for the first time in that session, Outlook tosses
up a dialog box entitled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Library".
The text of the dialog reads:
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MI1DB3~1\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to
terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for
more information.
Outlook then terminates. When Outlook is started up a 2nd
time during that session it comes up cleanly.
So the issue doesn't seem to be anything more than a
nuisance, but it would be nice if Outlook would always
come up cleanly.
If anyone has any insight/advice I'd appreciate it. I've
got VC++ .net, though it's not installed on the problem
PC. If it'll help diagnose the problem I'll be happy to
install it there.
Thanks,
Mike
