Please free the Application Windows in Office 2007

Hi,

I am trying Office 2007 (beta, 12.0.4017.1004 according to Excel) and I have
2 general comments I would like to ask if you can accomodate:

1. New Application window
I often use 4, sometimes more Excel files at once. Comparing historic data,
linking to other files, etc, etc. ... sure all 4+ appear on the Start bar and
I can switch quickly. However, I use 2x 19" TFT's so I have a huge desktop
.... if I do the same with 4 Word files I get 4 seperate application windows.
With Excel I get the 4+ squeezed into one application window ... and then
fight like mad to set them up across the dual screen before I can work on
them ...

Could you change the 'new window' function on View to open a window as a new
application window (as Word does) instead of the wild idea of opening another
window inside the same application window and making even more clutter.

2. File Open
It took me 20mins of searching when I first started Excel 2007 to then work
out how to open a file. In the end I gave up and used File manager to locate
the file and click on it .... then I wanted to open another file ... however,
I then had an interrupt that meant I needed to come back to my challenge.
Often, instead of clicking the red cross to close I used to click the top
left icon ... I tried double click to close Excel ... and something flashed
up and disappeared ... but Excel did not close. One click later and I had
found File Open ..

Could you do like you used to do with WindowsXP when its first started, that
is you had some sort of arrow bouning around the button suggesting the user
pushs here ... the alternative is to set File Open as an entry in the Quick
Access bar ....
I must admit I do find it weird that you have all this ribbon stuff to make
it easy to find things and yet you hide the often used under a button in an
area that was only ever clicked to close the application .

Anyway, great product otherwise.

Dave
PS I am on the beta for Vista, but not official on the beta for office ..
just using a version that was included with PCPRo magazine
