Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components ???????

Hi,

I'm installing office 2007 from CD on windows XP pro (HP Compaq PC)
For speed I always used some script to start office installer. When I start
setup.exe instead of setup launch I get dialog "Please go to the Control
Panel to install and configure system components" and exit.

How do I start office 2007 setup from CD from command line ?????????
(this is not single PC problem - this is happening on all HP Compaq new
PC's, while not on my personal IBM ThinkCentre )

thanks
Vilius

This is not an Office Setup error message. What happens if you browse the
CD, and launch Setup.exe by double-clicking the file?

If I doubleclick setup.exe it starts 'right' way - this only hapens using
command line.
Like I said all new HP PC's have this problem but not my current pc (which
is not HP)
That means it's not office config - it's machine config - but where ?

It looks like C:\windows\system32\setup.exe is launched instead of
CDROMdrive:\setup.exe, this is pointed by autorun.inf ? But what I don't
understand why this is happening only on some machines ?

Hi Vilius,

It could be a couple of things. You may want to check the Path
statement(s) in the 'Environment Variables' of Windows XP, the sequence that is searched for a command can be influenced there.

With so many programs that use a 'setup.exe' command qualifying it with an explicit path is often a useful help :)
