Please Help - Access 2007

C

Craig

I am in DIRE need of help.

I can't open my access 2007 accdb. I get the "Unrecognized database
format". I think it's corrupt. I DESPERATELY need to access my modules from
this database.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a backup?

Is this a split database design? If so, perhaps it is the backend tha
is corrupted and that is very bad. Did you try holding down the shif
key as you opened project? This will override any Opening code executio
and project settings that may be trying to read the backend. If this i
an all-in-one project or it is the frontend that is corrupted, I hop
you have a backup from prior to the event that caused this, else yo
will have to rebuild from scratch

Craig,

It may be to late but take a look at...

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruption/symptoms.htm. I would make a
back-up, make another back-up and then first try importing everything into a
new database. Also, read this article...
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruption/retrievedata.htm. And after all
of that I would finish off with this article...
http://allenbrowne.com/ser-25.html and see if any of those circumstances
apply to you.

First, thanks to all of you for your prompt replies.

I will check into the links that you all kindly provided. What I ended up
using is an application called Advanced Access Repair v2.0. This worked on
the 2007 accdb.

It took about an hour, however it only restored the tables. I was fortunate
enough to have a prototype of the module I needed most so I am in the process
of updating it with the work that I lost. This is an inconvenience, but I'm
in a better position than I had previously thought.

What happened: I ran a module that populated a table in Access (run off an
ODBC linked SQL table). The .accdb had grown over the 2 gb limit and
subsequently crashed.

I am now running the module in organized chunks in separate databases to
keep each .accdb under 500mb.

Question: Apparently the new Access 2007 doesn't have any additional
capacity (over 2gb)? I know Excel 2007 has over 1 million rows.

Craig,

Thank you for posting your solution, it will help others who might run into
this. Good practice to get into is to make back-ups... frequently. You are
correct the limit is still 2gig (sniff, sniff).
