Please help and respons soon - urgent to use for project

Every time I open any Microsoft Office program whether it be word, excel,
powerpoint, etc., a message pops up that says "An unexpected error occurred
while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library." I do not know what
this means and do not know how to rid myself of it.

And in my powerpoint, every time I try to go from one slide to the next
slide, it takes awhile and then gives me a popup window that says "Converting
Metafile." What's this all about?

How can I solve all these problems? I've tried reinstalling Microsoft
Office, but it doesn't seem to help.

Yes, I am using a mac. An older iBook (the white ones, not the ones that
were clam-shpaed) more specifically. OS 10.4.10. Is there any other info
that you need? Thanks for such a prompt response.
