Please Help...Failed to provision site ProjectServer

Ok I have a demo I am doing for a client where we will be going over many
things..one being Sharepoint/Project 2007. I have been playing with
Sharepoint Server 2007 and am getting comfortable with it. I have it running
just fine....but for some reason I am unable to get Project Server 2007 up
and running and always get this error: "Failed to provision site
ProjectServer"

My test server is a Server Enterprise 03 R2, SQL 2005 with SP1..my SSP
Service Credentials is using the local admin account and I do have a
dedicated domain controller...this test server is on the domain and I used
the domain\administrator account for the Project Administrator account.

I have heard this problem occurs when you are using local account as the
Project Administrator but that is not the case here.

Is there permissions or application rights that need to be set in a specific
way in regards to Sharepoint Server 2007 before installing Project Server
2007?

Hi,
I had the same issue and read somewhere on MS web site(cannot find it again)
that host headers defined in IIS could prevent you from installing Project
Server.
I removed the entry for my wss site and the installation worked.
Using a domain account is also a must.

Ok...I still get a provisioning error:

Provisioning 'ProjectServer': Failed to grant access and add user
'servername\administrator' to role on databases because of an exception
Object reference not set to an instance of an object..

I get the same error when I change the SSP service account to a domain user:

Provisioning 'ProjectServer': Failed to grant access and add user
DOMAIN\administrator' to role on databases because of an exception Object
reference not set to an instance of an object..

Should I uninstall project and start from scratch?

Another shot at it...

I dont even understand how this is possible here:

The user or group 'DOMAIN\administrator' is unknown or not found.

I seem to be having the same problem. I have tried this a number of times
using diffrent ID's. The other corresponding error says "Failed to grant
access and add user "DOMAIN\Username" because of an exception Object
reference not set to an instance of an object.
But the DBs on the server seem to get created without any issues.

I also had this issue,
What solved it for me was using the same account I used during the
database installation phase as the Administer for the PWA site. Setup
pre-fills this with the current logged in user. I cahnged it to the service
account I created. All went just fine after that. Once the site was
provisioned I logged in as the Service account and added the AD groups I
wanted.
