Please help, I'm trying to link my webpages on my site

P

but I know I'm doing something wrong.

The webs address is www.eccentrcipets.com. I'm using IE 7.0 as a browser,
and MS Publisher 2003 to build the site. My pictures are not linking properly
either. I just need to get the site up and running.

Your post seems to be saying that you managed to get your home page to work,
except that the links to the other pages did not, and the images didn't
load. When I tried your link, I got nothing...not even the home page.

Usually the scenario I described is because the user did not load all the
web files to their host. When you "Publish to the Web", Publisher produces
an index.htm file (the home page) and an index_files folder which contains
all the other pages and supporting graphics and images. It sounds like you
managed to upload the index.htm file, but not the index_files folder. Upload
both and your problem should be fixed.

If you are having problems uploading, reference these links for the general
information and the specific information about how to upload:

Then read and study: Prepare, publish, and maintain your Publisher Web site
( for Publisher 2003 ):
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA011053521033.aspx

If you are using FTP uploading protocol, then since you are using IE7, read
and study the Prepare, publish,
and maintain your Publisher Web site ( for Publisher 2007 ):
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA100947601033.aspx
There are different directions for Vista which uses IE7.

If you can't figure out how to use ftp from those instructions, then perhaps
download and install the free ftp client FileZilla.
http://filezilla-project.org/
Read the instructions:
http://filezilla-project.org/wiki/index.php/Documentation
You will probably find using this tool easier in the long run.

Note that if you are using a Publisher built form on your site, then you
will need to use HTTP uploading protocol. If so post back for more info,
otherwise focus on FTP uploading.

Ok...I like a good puzzle as much as the next guy, or I wouldn't be helping
out in this newsgroup, but how about telling me the correct URL. It isn't
obvious to me no matter how closely I look at it...and my eyes are just an
inch away from the screen ;-)

After Mike supplied the correct URL, I can see your index.htm file and no
images loading. So, it does appear your basic problem is you did not upload
the index_files folder to the same directory as the index.htm file. Do that
and your should be ok.

Rob,

I know, you being an MVP for Expression, you are probably a bit biased.
I'm curious - how is the program? MS' site where they show an example is
pretty poor - it fails W3C validation is bunches of ways. If you want to
email me your thoughts, that's fine. (e-mail address removed)

Thanks,

Mike

Actually, I think we would all be interested, if Rob is comfortable posting
here.

Well...I like it a lot, and am still learning how to use it!

I just ran the home page through W3C validator and found no errors on CSS or
HTML (well one minor one about mime type).
