PLEASE HELP!!!! License information for this component not found.

Please help me. I am an access newbie and cannot figure this one out. I have
stumped the IT folks and others that know access well.

I have been trying to install a program and get the following error:

License information for this component not found. You do not have an
appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment.

I am using WinXP and Office 2003. Other users in the company can use the
program fine. I am the only one with the problem. I have seen it run on
both Win 2k running Access 2000 and WinXP running Access 2003.

The program is called ARM2000.mde. The maker of the software says it should
work fine for me. Their only suggesting was to remove and install Access
2003.

Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Dave

A file with an extention of MDE is not a program. It is a database file and
you will need Access to open it. Access comes as a part of Office
Professional but not as part of Office.

An mde file is not an executable program, it is an unmodifiable Access
Database. It requires either A version of Access the mde can run in or an
equivalent version Access Run Time license. The other users either have full
Access or the RunTime. If your company can provide you with one of those,
great. If not, contact the provider of the mde and see if they have a
runtime distribution license.

Thanks for the quick replies. I apologize for not being clear before. I do
have Office 2003 Pro. I am running Access 2003 (11.6566.8036) SP2

What happens when you try to run it? If you are getting an Access error
message, please post back with the error number and description.

I do not get an error number. It says:

I also should mention that they tell me to copy and paste one folder names
REPTECH2000 into the program files folder. It includes these files:
ARM2000.mde, ADMIN 2000.mde and DATA2000.mdb

Not sure if this helps or not. The weird part is that I have an older
machine running WIN2K with Access 2K and it worked fine.

I need it on the laptop becuase I travel for the job and this is the contact
management program they are using.

This is a clue:
tryCheckLinks()

based on the name of the function the Autoexec macro is trying to run, it
can't refresh the links it has to another database file. This is usually
caused when it can't find the path or file it wants to link to. I would get
back in touch with the provider and ask them specifically what the links
should be.

I hate to say it but the provider is virtually no help in this problem. They
think it should work fine so, it is my problem I guess. Is there a way I can
look into this to troubleshoot? I have it working on the WIN2K ACCESS2K
computer so I could potenially reference back to it. Let me know if I am
crazy or not. Thanks

Look on the machine where it is working. Check to see what the path to
database is. If it is on a local drive, see if the same path exists on the
machine where it is not working. If the path is on a network, then the
problem is likely drive mapping differences. Each computer probably has
different drive mappings to the same shared folder.
