Hi Cheryl,

Although there are some differences, by and large the Mac and Windows
versions of PowerPoint are the same.

What issues have you run into?

The problem I have encountered is that I have blank slides set up
inbetween my animated slides that are set to advance off after 00:00
seconds. This is so that I can use a back button to navigate back to a
previous slide and the slide will re-play even though its already been
viewed. This works fine on my pc. However when i view it on a mac,
occassionally when i click the back button, instead of it advancing
off the blank slide immediately and replaying the previous slide, it
sticks on the blank slide and stays there. The transition is still set
to advance off so I cant understand why it isn't doing it.
Thankyou for your interest and I hope you can help with my problem.

Hi Chreyl,

I tried to reproduce the problem but was not able to. Every time I tried I
had the result you expected - the blank slide automatically advanced to the
next one which played normally, too.

Let's start with some basics. Are you using PowerPoint 2004? Have you
installed all of the updates?

hey thanks for responding so quickly.
i made the presentation on powerpoint 2003 on a pc and created the
blank slides on that. Im now trying to play it on a mac that has
powerpoint version 2004, I have not added any updates.
The weird thing is it only happens occassionally and not always on the
same slide, this suggests it cant be that some slides are set to the
wrong transition, becasue sometimes they work the way i want and then
sometimes a slide that has worked before just sticks and doesnt move
on...im so confused!

Hi again,

There's a couple of tricks (based on things suggestions I've seen about
Windows PowerPoint) that you can try.

One is to simply save the presentation using File > Save As and use a
different file name. That might clean out some clutter inside the
presentation.

Another suggestion is to open a new, empty presentation. Use Insert > Slides
From File and import all of the slides from the troubled presentation into
a fresh one.

Try these and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks.

Hi,
tried both your suggestions but neither seem to clear up the problem.
The blank slides still stick, the confusion im having is that they
dont stick all the time and not always the same ones. I have tried
changing the transition timing from 0 to 1 to see if that makes a
difference and it seemed to work at first but then started sticking on
the blank slide again and not moving off at all.
I dont know if there is anything else you can suggest trying? would it
help if i emailed part of the presentation to you so you could look at
it and see if there is anything i am missing?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Cheryl,

Yes, I would be happy to take a look at an example presentation. You should
be able to figure out my email address. Substitute "hotmail" for
Warmer-than-Warm-mail and you'll have my email address.

If it turns out there's a bug of some sort may I submit your presentation to
Microsoft for analysis?
