Please help me find the Microsoft Windows XP support forum

I'm using the Microsoft site to access this support forum:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.excel.misc

I'm sure there must be a similar site for Windows XP, but I'm looked around
on the Microsoft sites and can't find it.

There are many:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics
microsoft.public.windowsxp.configuration_manage
microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize
microsoft.public.windowsxp.device_driver.dev
microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded
microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded.techpreview
microsoft.public.windowsxp.games
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware
microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support
microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger
microsoft.public.windowsxp.moviemaker
microsoft.public.windowsxp.music
microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web
microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers
microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain
microsoft.public.windowsxp.photos
microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax
microsoft.public.windowsxp.security_admin
microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment
microsoft.public.windowsxp.video
microsoft.public.windowsxp.winlogo
microsoft.public.windowsxp.wmi
microsoft.public.windowsxp.work_remotely

Just add one of these groups to the end of the URL in place of
"microsoft.public.excel.misc" in your example. Better yet, use a real
newsreader. See:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/guide/nntpnews.mspx

Here you can see all the newsgroups:

Thanks for your help.

I have to admit that in 20+ years of working with PCs, I've never gotten
much involved in the traditional newsgroups. Aren't the Microsoft community
pages itself implemented using a newsreader? Why use a different one?

That Microsoft site you pointed me
to(http://www.microsoft.com/communities/guide/nntpnews.mspx) suggests Outlook
Express as a newsreader. What about Outlook, which is the mail program I
normally use?

Or, do you have a newsreader you recommend? Do Google and Yahoo offer
newsreaders, or do their groups use a different technology?

If you can offer any tips to point me in the right direction, I'd be
grateful. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

When using a web interface, you're using an intermediate conversion program
that accessed a newserver and provides a web interface. You're not accessing
newsgroups directly.

NNTP and mail aren't the same thing. A program must provide an NNTP transport
in order to access newsgroups. Outlook does not and never has provided an
NNTP, although there are third party tools that do integrate with Outlook and
provide an NNTP transport.
Or, do you have a newsreader you recommend? Do Google and Yahoo offer

Google and Yahoo are not newsgroups. I like Outlok Express, Windows Mail,
Windows Live Mail, Xnews and Forte Agent as newsreaders, but there are plenty
more. Thunderbird suppolies an NNTP transport and many like that.
If you can offer any tips to point me in the right direction, I'd be
grateful. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

The right directtion for what? For accessing newsgroups or for getting a
Windows XP question answered?
