PLEASE help my with my Word problems!

To all who may be able to help me, I am in desperate need. I'll try to make
this short. I am a master's student, and I was typing a paper on Word this
afternoon. All of a sudden, for absolutely no reason, the power went off in
my house. When it came back on ~10 minutes later, my computer appeared to be
fine, but when I clicked on the document I was working on, my computer
restarted. I thought it was a computer glitch, but I tried over and over,
with different files and even simply trying to open a new document - anything
associated with my Word 2000 causes my system to restart. I have checked all
of my other Microsoft Office products, and they all open without a problem.
I ran every virus and spyware scan I could (all came back clean), and even
defragmented the system - nothing has given me any clues. The error message
that pops up on the screen after my system restarts says something about how
one of my video card drivers is stuck in some kind of infinite loop or
something - it doesnt make any sense, and to me does not seem to have
anything to do with Word. I am in desperate need of assistance fixing this -
I have papers for class that are due very soon, and I cannot access any of
the information. PLEASE HELP!!

The error message is probably incorrect. Try the steps in the article
first.
