Please Help, upgrading to Office X

I am under the assumption that when you upgrade from Office 2004 to
Office X you will lose all of your contacts and other stuff. Is this
true? If not great, if so what do I do with all my other contacts?

Um, Office 2004 is *newer* than Office X. You appear to be down-grading,
not upgrading?
