Please help with crashes

When trying to merge or change the format of a cell (to
make it bold, or red) it errors out with the following
message "Too many file formats". Then sometimes it crashes
Excel. The spreadsheet is. 8.5 MB and has approximately 30
tabs. When I close the file and re-open it, I can do these
types of functions for a while then I get the same error
again.

Is there any way to correct this? Please Help
