Please help with hyperlinks in word for mac 2004

First I created a doc in word, then saved it as a webpage. Then I made
hyperlinks to other webpages. All pages are contained within the same
directory. The hyperlinks work when in word. They do not work when
viewing with a browser (Internet explorer or safari). Ther are no
error messages. It is as if there are no hyperlinks at all.
What am I doing wrong?

Don't know. Have you tried hitting option-F9 to show field codes, which
will show you the filepath for the hyperlink? That might help you figure
out if something is wrong.
