please wait while Visio updates directory cache

Hi!

visio enterprise architects 2003
hangs on
"please wait while Visio updates directory cache 13%"

I have combed newsgroups and have tried:
0) uninstalling and reinstalling
1) deleting visio.pip
2) finding visio.bin to delete it--couldn't find it
3) At the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Visio\Addins\VisioSGIX.Manager
change the value "LoadBehavior" from 3 to 0.
This ran the installer and took the 13% to 38 %, where it stopped.
4) "C:\Program Files\microsoft office\Visio10\Visio.exe" /r
5) Remove theLocal Settings value from the following registry location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
version\winlogon\ExcludeProfileDirs

What might it take to get Visio to actually launch and run?!

Thanks!

Jim

Thanks for the pointer, Paul.
I searched for "visio.bin" in "C:\Documents and Settings" and it did not
turn up.
This directory does not exist:
C:\Documents and Settings\jmoon\Local Settings\Application Data\Visio\
This one does exist, but it has no <visioVersion> subdir and "visio.bin" is
not there:
C:\Documents and Settings\jmoon\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Visio

Jim

Here is my current solution:
Uninstall Visio for Enterprise Architects 2003.
Install Office Visio Professional 2003.
