plug-in problem

Problem with playing a midi file when page opens (yes, I know it would drive
anyone crazy), however:

http://pipesdrums.murraywebdesign.shorturl.com/welcome.htm

A message about "Browser does not support this plug-in".

Yet when I preview in Frontpage, it works, and when I preview in browser, it
works.

The plugin that plays the file is Quicktime - I inserted the plug-in using the
"insert plugin" in Frontpage.

I have Quicktime 6.5.1, and IE 6.0 so it theoretically *should* support it - or
is it a case that the browser is too "Old" for the version of QT?

Tried it in Opera 7.53 with same problem, using the http: address but preview in
browser works fine.

Otherwise I suppose it would open with default player for MIDI format (Windows
Media etc).

Yet, if you click "Click here if tune not playing...." and then click on the
listed link it *should* play and this is an external link to the file, rather
than local hosting.

The second link is on an external site.

Just want to clarify the problem does exist. Then I'll just change it to a link
to start playing the file rather than automatically, since this is not really a
web rule of thumb.

Any suggestions? This was working as of last week (or before I upgraded
Quicktime).

Can you report back and say if the tune starts playing or not - you should see
the "mini-player" in the left column - so at least you can stop it playing.

I haven't tried it as a bgsound but I'd like to avoid that.

In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security, your live site
is probably in the Internet zone, whereas local preview
is in Trusted Sites or Local Internet. And you probably
have plug-ins disabled for the Internet zone.

If so, you could fix this on your PC by putting your live
site in Trusted Sites, or allowing Internet sites to run
plug-ins.

*But*, how many Internet visitors have their browser
configured like yours, and how are you going to fix all
of them?
