PLZ Help! Gmail email does not work ONLY on Entourage

J

John - JP

I have Entourage 2008 and I went to setup my account exactly as it should be
setup according to their help file. I have Gmail setup on my Outlook 2007
Windows machine working perfectly fine. POP, etc are all activated in the
Gmail settings window.

However, when I go to set it up in Entourage, I am constantly receiving this
message:
"Mail could not be received at this time
The server for account "MY ACCOUNT" returned the error "[AUTH] Username and
password not accepted.." Your username/password or security settings may be
incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?"

My password is correct. I can login with Outlook 2007 AND on the web. I am
so confused, I do not know what else to do. I also repaired my keychain.

It's weird that my Cox email does work. It's this that is giving me the
error. Gmail continues to work on my Windows machine.

I also changed to IMAP and that gave me a "server is busy" error. I've also
received a 5.7.1 error, but this is the latest one. What do I do? PLZ help
me.

See these articles for some help. Also have you run Keychain FirstAid?

Connect Entourage 2004 to Gmail¹s IMAP service

p_service.html>

Create Gmail labels and make Entourage folders

ge_folders.html>

Keychain First Aid:

Run Keychain Access found in /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.

Go to the Keychain Access Menu and drag down to Keychain First Aid.
Enter your login password, click 'Verify' and 'Start'.

You will probably get some items colored red. Click 'Repair' and 'Start'. If
some items are still red, 'Repair' again.

Test to see if the problem is fixed. If not...

1. Go to the system keychain and delete the entry for that account.

2. Go to Entourage, select 'accounts' from the Tools menu, choose the
account that was giving you trouble and click on Edit. Select the 'account
settings' tab.

3. Delete the password from the password box in the POP settings (leaving
the box empty).

4. Close the account window.

5. Re-open the account window and enter your proper password, check the
'save in keychain' check box and close the window again.
