PMs Adjusting Actuals

R

Randy

I'm looking for help on setting up some sort of custom security template,
category, and group that will allow our PMs to have the ability to Adjust
Actuals for only the Resources on the plans they manage. I can easily enable
the Adjust Actuals but I do not like the idea of the PMs having the ability
to change everyone's timesheet. If anyone has already done this, please let
me know. In the meantime I'll keep experimenting.

Thanks!

Before addressing this problem, I assume that you have done the following:

1. Created an outline code structure in the RBS field that reflects your
company's "org chart"
2. Set an RBS value for each resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool so
that Project Server knows "who reports to whom" in your company.

If you have not performed these two steps, then you need to do both of them
before performing the next set of steps. To solve your problem using the
RBS field to control access to resources, do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Manage security
3. Select the My Projects category and click the Modify Category button
4. In the Resources section, select the "Allow users in this category to
view information for all resources that they manage" option
5. Click the Save Changes button
6. Click the Manage users and groups link in the sidepane, and then click
the Groups link in the sidepane
7. Select the Project Managers group and click the Modify Group button
8. In the Categories section, select the My Organization category
9. Deselect the Allow option for the Adjust Actuals permission (neither
Allow or Deny is selected)
10. In the Categories section, select the My Projects category
11. Select the Allow option for the Adjust Actuals permission
12. Click the Save Changes button

Steps #8-9 above take away the permission for project managers to see all
resources when using the Adjust Actuals feature. Steps #10-11 allows
project managers to see only their own resources when using the Adjust
Actuals feature. Let us know if this helps.
