Point A says "x"--I want Point B to say the same, even when x chan

I'm not advanced enough to program, but perhaps somebody here will have a
simpleton's solution for me (other than "go back to using a pencil--perhaps
one of those thick ones that first graders use").

At the top of my document is a Title (this is "Point A"). Down in the
footer, the title is supposed to be repeated so it shows up at the bottom of
each page (this is "Point B"). Sometimes I change what the title is, and
forget to go down and change the footer, and so I have a big glaring error on
every page (via the footer).

Is there some way I can make Point A a field, and link it to a field I put
in Point B, so that if I make any change to Point A it automatically gets
changed at Point B? Thanks.

If the title at point A is formatted with a specific style that isn't
used elsewhere, you can insert a StyleRef field in the footer to
automatically repeat the text of the title there.

Besides the Help topic about the StyleRef field, look at the "Beyond
Numbering" section of
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NumberingFrontMatter.htm and the
article at http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/StyleRef.htm.

DDC:

You could also use a document property -- which seems pretty handy since
there's already a property called "Title." Here's what you'd need to do.

First type your document title in the File > Properties > Summary > Title box.

Then whenever you need to use that title, either in the document body or in
the footer, you click Insert > Field, select Title from the Field Names list,
and click OK.

You'll need to update the fields whenever you change the Title property. In
the body, you select the field (or select the whole body with Ctrl+A) then
press F9. To update the field in a header or footer, just toggle into and out
of Print Preview view.
