Point to a new data base

S

Sally

We had two instances of project server. One production and one training. We
are troubleshooting a problem that required the creation of third database on
the Project Server database and the restoration of the production database.
How do I point to the new data base?

Why not restore your "third" database over the original production database
if it is to become the new production database?

Hi Gary,

The third data base is not intended to replace the production data base at
all. We have a large plan with a number of links (75 to 100) to other plans.
The problem began with a circular reference and went down hill from there.
We want the third environment so that we can trouble shoot and determine
which "fix" will create the least amount of grief and to test the proposed
Microsoft solution.

Best regards,

Sally

You then need to create a new instance of Project Server using the EditSite
tool, which you can download from Microsoft if it's not already installed on
your system. It probably is already there. Your other alterative, if your
training instance isn't being used at the moment, is to restore the copy of
the production over the training instance which will have you up and running
in very short order. Of course, backup your training database first.
